High tensile wire is available in both Class 1 and Class 3 galvanization. Class 1 wire is more than suitable for most vineyard and orchard trellis applications. Tensile strength and Galvanization should not be the only tests for a quality vineyard wire. Wire elongation is an important factor in the vineyard. Wire that has a high tensile strength, but little elongation will break more easily than a wire with good elongation qualities.
Quiedan recommends using 13ga wire for drip and movable wires, and it can also be used for cordon wires. 12ga is another option for cordon wires.
Wire is available in 100 lb rolls or on continuous spools of 800-1500 lbs.
